Hey, it's Michael Sathy and today we have a very different kind of episode.

It's about what happened when a thousands of crabs started washing up dead on the beaches of northeast England.

Our producer Josh Kelly reports from his hometown of Hartleyport.

Last autumn the crabs started washing up on the beaches.

First around Hartleypool and Redca, then further south.

Sharon Bell lives in Mask, right by a beach that seems to go on forever.

It can just stand here when there's no one else but you down there.

And you've got a gorgeous pink sky and the sun coming up.

You just think, ah, like, at and court, we're what's going on today.

Sharon Bakes a labrit and incredible birthday cake for a living.

But she's also a really good photographer.

Very early one October morning, she set off to take some pictures for the sun coming up, like she always does.

It was a beautiful, beautiful autumn morning.

Obviously got to the bottom of this bank that we're walking down now and turned the bend.

And that's when we saw the devastation that we did.

What was it? What did you see?

Literally as far as your eye could see, crabs, lobsters, all kinds, all colours, all sizes, dead, dying.

There was literally hundreds of thousands, just hundreds of thousands.

It would be impossible to put a figure on at some point.

There were up to your knees and at some points you were actually looked to your West in them.

They were piled high.
