The four Gospels record that the Roman governor who sent Jesus to his death was Paunches Pilot.

In some circles, Pilot is portrayed as a consummate villain who was punished by God,

but in other circles he's considered a literal Christian saint and martyr.

What do we really know about Paunius Pilate? Who was he? What eventually happened to him?

That's what we'll be talking about on this episode of Jimmy Aiken's mysterious world.

Jimmy, why did you want to do this mystery? The idea for it came to me

after I was asked to do an interview on Pontius Pilate by the guys over at the Catholic

talk show and we'll have links to where you can check out

their podcast. They sent me a question list before the interview and they had a bunch of really

detailed questions about pilot. So like before any interview I did some reading to refresh

my memory so that I'd have the needed facts at the top of my cerebrum and I thought I shouldn't

let all this research go to waste. There are a bunch of interest in mysteries connected with Pilot, and this would make a good episode

of mysterious world, so that's why we're doing it.

And where do you want to start?

By looking at what led to pilot being appointed Governor of Judea.
