Our central passage is 1st Timothy chapter 6,

which speaks of godliness over and over again

in that chapter.

And in verse 3 of 1st Timothy 6,

if anyone advocates a different doctrine

and does not agree with sound words,

those of our Lord Jesus Christ,

and with the doctrine conforming to Godliness.

So Paul says there is a doctrine of Godliness. The word doctrine means a teaching
