Last week I was probably 30 minutes into a documentary about the World's Fair,

and all of a sudden I had a full eBay account set up with alerts for rainbonnets, literally

for disposable sheets of plastic that people wore to cover their hair at a temporary

event in the 60s. This is what my work inbox is filled

with right now. It's a bit much, but it's the only thing I can think about as of late.

The strange part is that Disney fandom is kind of like a zero entry pool.

You show up and you get really into it and then all of a sudden it fully consumes your body.

But learning about the attractions that came out of that world's fair, like

it's a small world and carousel of progress, are basically the splash zone. That's some

entry-level stuff. But it's nice, it's really nice to be this far into Disney fandom

and still be learning more about something so historical.

And I gotta say, it's nice to jump further back in time when the future seems increasingly bleak.
