So tomorrow we turn the calendar to August.

And that means we are getting very close to college football season.

Teams are starting to practice this week and some will open in the month of August.

And every year there is a group of players or a player who is really hyped.

Can you remember I have a candidate, and mine is when Johnny Football came back for a sophomore year after winning the Heisman,

because he wasn't hyped up before he got the job, and then he just went on that incredible run.

But not since then.

Do I remember hype about a quarterback,

the likes of which we have seen with Arch Manning at Texas?

No, I can't either, and it has pretty much everything, not to discount his talent, which I think is immense, but it has everything to do with the name.

Yes, absolutely.

And the fact that there's another Manning now, the next generation of Manning, and he's Cooper's son.

Seems like a really bright kid.

We'll hear some of this interview with Marty Smith that he did a few months back.

He played in nine games last year.

Most of them were mop-up games except for the starts he made against Colorado State, Mississippi

State.

And he put up good numbers, 900 yards, nine touchdowns, two interceptions,

67% completion rate, had some big runs too.

That 67-yard run against UTSA was spectacular.

He had the big 15-yard run against Texas A&M, too.

That was a big score in the game.
