It's time to talk about tanking in the NBA,

and I know this is getting to be a power down for a lot of

people. And part of the problem is because there doesn't appear to be any solution, yet it is

rampant, and it's a big problem for the league. If nothing else, it's a huge PR problem.

Huge. It's also a competitive problem.

Nobody has a great idea or a great fix because, as I've said, all of the ideas, even the

good ones that I've heard, lead to a new set of problems.

But yesterday, these reports came out that Commissioner Adam Silver informed the league's

30 general managers that the NBA plans to

make anti-tanking rules changes for next season. And reports yesterday leaked what the NBA and Board of

Governors and Competition Committee had discussed in December and January meetings to curb tanking.

And these are the concepts that have been discussed.

Now, we don't know if one or a few or any of these will actually be put into place this offseason.

But this is what they've talked about.

First round draft picks can be protected only for top four or top 14 plus selections.

That was confusing to me.

I don't know exactly what that means.
