The big story in town, the fact that the Mavericks and the stars are moving out of downtown Dallas. The Mavericks made it clear that they are moving to North Dallas a couple of days ago to the site of the Old Valley View Mall.

And not to be outdone, the Dallas Stars yesterday announced that they have signed a letter of intent to build a new arena and

entertainment district at the shops at Willow Bend in Plano.

This is pretty wild.

As I said yesterday on the sweet spot, and we were talking about this, talked about the statues at Victory Park,

but also for those of us who've been around for a while, and we understand the new model

for teams trying to be as financially independent as they can, and that's why both of these teams

are doing this.

But if you go back to when this was built, the American Airlines Center, which is right

next to our studios, the debates we had in this town, and all the people who said, that'll

never work, they keep promising that you're going to build an arena and that commerce will follow

and construction will follow and there will be development around it. That's not going to happen.

There's nothing there. There's just going to be an arena and nothing's ever going to happen.
