All right, let's talk expansion.

Yeah, we have several stories from several different sports talking about expanding.

I thought we'd start with what I found to be the most ludicrous of all of these.

The Big Ten, the story came out a couple of days ago, has considered and floated an idea of massive expansion to the college football playoff.

So we're currently at 12. We got there last year, and we're going to be at 12 again this year,

after going from no playoff to 2 in the BCS era to then 4 in the college football playoff era. And we went from

four to 12. The Big Ten wants to expand the college football playoff to 24 or 28 teams.

That's a lot. In this model, the Big Ten and the SEC would each get seven automatic bids.

The ACC and the Big 12 would each get five.

There would be two automatic bids for the non-power-four conferences, and there would be two at-large teams.

So, thank God there'll be a couple of at large spots because that eighth SEC team or that

eighth big 10 team would be left out otherwise. You could finish eighth in your conference and not

make a postseason tournament. Imagine the tragedy that would be for that eighth place team.

Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen.

This is so beyond ludicrous,

but as someone who is anti-expanding the college football playoff,

I would have been okay if you had told me we were going to six or maybe even eight.

But I thought last year 12 was too much.

I also know that we are headed to 14 or 16 and very likely at some point, 24 or 28. And I'm telling you that's going to suck. It is going to

water down the greatest regular season of any sport. The college football regular

season is the greatest. And if we get to 24 or 28 in the playoff, part of their idea is you

eliminate conference championship games. Those would not exist anymore, which I'm okay with that.
