Good morning. It's three minutes after ten. I've just noticed something that is potentially professionally injurious.

I mean, it could almost amount to a form of professional suicide, as in career ending.

I just looked at a story with the intention of possibly discussing it with you.

And I found myself thinking a thought

that I can't really afford to think

when I do this for a living.

Can you guess what it is?

Can you imagine what that thought was?

It's a front page story.

You may already be aware of some of the details.

It's linked to the Chris Cabber case,

perhaps inevitably,

given the constitution of our front pages this morning. And I found

myself thinking, oh, I don't know if I'm qualified to have any opinions on this. That's not a

decision that I'd want to make. Oh, cricky. And I sort of held that thought on one side of my brain.

And on the other side of my brain,

there's this sort of screaming banshee going, you have to have a pit. What are you talking about?

You wet wipe. Every day you come on air with strong opinions. It's what we pay you for. And yet,

I don't want, I wouldn't want to make that decision. Police chiefs have formally asked the government to make it harder to investigate and prosecute officers after the fatal shooting of Chris Cowher.

The feeling that the officer who shot him should not have been on trial at all is strong.

It's enforced not only by the speed with which the jury threw the case out, but also, of course, by what

subsequently emerged about Chris Cabber's background, which was about as grim as it's possible
