Summary

Today we are diving into an unusual case that involves the murder of two sisters on the same day. Mona King and Carla Cannon grew up on a farm in Kansas, but lived in Colorado Springs at the time of their deaths. Despite sharing DNA, Mona and Carla couldn't have been more different. Mona was a devoted wife to Ray King, a homemaker, and mother to her young daughter, Tara. Carla, the eldest sister, had recently divorced from her husband and moved in with Mona and Ray. She was outgoing, loved the nightlife, and encouraged Mona to go out and enjoy life more. Shortly after Carla moved in, Mona and Ray began having marital problems, which eventually led to Ray moving out. On March 25, 1985, Mona's father-in-law became alarmed when Ray failed to drop Tara off. He went to check on Mona and discovered the shocking sight of a woman's body on the kitchen floor. When Detective Joe Kenda arrived at the scene, he found the bodies of both Carla and Mona, each having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation that followed uncovered a web of marital dysfunction, secret lives, and a devastating betrayal. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
