Richard John Bingham was born on December 18, 1934, as the second child and eldest son, born to George Bingham, the 6th Earl of Lucan, and his wife, Caitlin Elizabeth Ann Dawson.

Raised in London, Richard attended a prestigious prep school at the age of three.

But in 1939, with the war fast approaching, he and his sister were sent off to Wales to live

safely with some relatives.

Later, joined by their younger siblings, the Bingham children traveled to Toronto the following year,

before moving to Mount Kisco, New York, where they stayed for five years in the care of multimillionaire S. Marcia Brady Tucker.

Now on U.S. soil, Richard began attending the Harvey School and spent his summer away from his siblings at a camp in the Adirondack Mountains.

Everything he could possibly have wanted was handed to him, which is why it came as such a shock to his grandiose system when he finally returned to Europe in February of 1945 and had to face the realities of post-war Britain,

meaning he went from the life of luxury to rationing food and walking amongst the rubble

of bombed homes. Eventually, Richard Bingham made his way to Eden College, where he developed

quite the taste for gambling.
