Alright, welcome to another episode of the National Pulse. It is Saturday October 16th.

0:29.0

The year of our Lord 2021 and I started to record this episode yesterday and I have this whole new setup here so that I can podcast for you when I'm on the go.

0:50.0

I've been getting a lot of complaints but let's say queries as I've been traveling so I invested in a portable system.

1:01.0

You will have far more podcasts from me as a result but I've been fidgeting around with it for the last 24 hours trying to figure out how to use this thing.

1:11.0

I started recording this episode yesterday and I just ran out of battery in the device and thought I could speak into two AA batteries for 4 hours and that would work.

1:24.0

It didn't, obviously. So we're doing it again. So welcome again, not that you heard the last one.

1:32.0

We're broadcasting today out of New York, New York. I was feeling a little little little ropey this morning so I went down from where I'm staying just found the first pizza place this afternoon and I took a bite.

1:49.0

I bought it first and I took a bite and it was just phenomenal and I looked up on the pizza man, what's his name Dave Portnoy. I looked up on his rankings on his website, the one bite website.

2:06.0

What this pizza, what this random pizza place here down on on first Avenue on the upper side was ranked and he gave it an 8.5 and I feel like that's a pretty good score. I would have given it an 8.5. I thought he'd come in lower.

2:19.0

So I was very pleased with that. Now I've got my energy back. We can jump right into the conversation here.

2:25.0

Lots, obviously, to talk about, but the one big story that's been stuck in my mind over the last day is this store from back home and the tragic and also just disgusting story of David Amos,

2:42.0

a member of parliament who was murdered while doing his job as a British member of parliament. In the UK we have things called constituency surgeries. That means that you're one on one with your constituent and usually there are no police or security at these events and unfortunately I guess and appallingly

3:10.0

25 year old Somali and immigrant into the United Kingdom took advantage of that fact and and you know stabbed.

3:20.0

So David Amos multiple times during that event he passed away shortly thereafter and I want to bring into the conversation here an old friend of mine. He's been on the show before.

3:31.0

Benjamin Harris Quini is the chairman of the Bo Group. It's the oldest conservative think tank, I think in the world and he has known to David Amos for long time has worked with him has hosted conversations and discussions via the Bo Group and other groups with today.

3:49.0

So I want to bring Ben into the conversation here Ben thanks for joining us. Ben obviously I mean it goes without saying what happened yesterday was was absolutely just just just heart wrenching gut wrenching.

4:05.0

I think about that sort of thing all the time you know as I get evil eyes in the streets especially in New York from time to time I wonder you know is there a nutter somewhere around the corner you know who wants to take advantage of of you know open and easy access and this did happen to say David Amos your first thoughts on you know the incident and your memories of of say David.

4:30.0

Well obviously the first the first thought that I had was was total shock where I saw it that that he had been stabbed and died.

4:44.0

It's surreal because suddenly you I mean he was a very unassuming guy and he was a a back bencher which means that he was really focused on local issues constituency issues.

4:59.0

He was a well known figure in Westminster but not a well known figure in the country he happened to be well known to the Bo Group and myself and and you know suddenly this this this guy is the focus of of such a shocking terrorist incident that I think we haven't seen in the United Kingdom for for for a fair time you know it's it's been I think five or six years since there's been a terrorist incident of this.

5:28.0

Significance and severity and and you know I suppose unfortunately perhaps in part due to the pandemic we'd kind of gotten used to these things not happening all the time as as they were if you you know went back 10 years or so it was a lot more common and it seemed like Islamic terrorism particularly had a di down a bit and it's it's come back with the vengeance with this incident we're on a personal level.

5:56.0

David was a was a very unique character and he was a he was a funny guy you know good sense of humor I mean just very strong positive energy about him which was very different different to me but he I mean when you have these these terrible incidents occur there is a
