In May 2019, 15-year-old Riley Crossman disappeared from her home in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, sometime during an ordinary school night. What followed was a series of quiet red flags, overlooked moments, and conflicting statements that only became clear after Riley failed to show up for school. This episode closely examines the timeline inside the house, the unanswered texts, and the decisions that shaped the first critical hours of the investigation. Certain details did not line up from the very beginning, but it took time for anyone to understand why. Allison carefully walks through what was known, what was missed, and the detail that still raises the hardest questions.

| 0:00.0 | Hello everyone. Welcome back to another episode of the crime and coffee couple. My name's Allison. |
| 0:08.2 | And my name's Mike. Hi, Mike. Hey, Allie Bear. How are you? My little buggeroo. Oh, pretty good. We were just testing levels and stuff. And I totally forgot how to introduce this show. And I said it's going to be a banger of an episode. |
| 0:20.6 | Yeah, like the kids say, |
| 0:21.6 | the banger. And this is going to be fire, all that stuff. Yeah, I don't think they say banger, though. Well, yeah, that's like for songs, I think. That's a banger. I don't know, Mike, because I'm not a teenager, so I don't speak the language. Hey, you whippersnappers. If you can let us know, if you still use the word banger or let us know some other cool lingo so we can kind of toss it |
| 0:37.8 | into the next week's episode while we do love with a 14 year old girl and a 17 year old boy. So if anyone was going to know the language, it should be us. But I don't, the things change all the time. I cannot keep up with what's cool, what's not, what you're into. They change on a dime. It's crazy. I was talking to a friend last night. We went out last night. |
| 0:56.4 | We don't do it a whole lot. |
| 0:57.4 | We went out with some, |
| 0:58.0 | some, |
| 0:58.3 | some, what's not what you're into they change on a dime it's crazy i was talking to a friend last night we |
| 0:55.5 | went out last night we don't do it a whole lot but we went out with some some fun friends and uh just |
| 1:00.1 | had some nice dinner and i was saying how like every restaurant there's like all these trends |
| 1:03.8 | that come and go so fast like for instance dubai chocolate like every single place even gas stations |
| 1:09.0 | have dubai chocolate for sale now. Like $20 a bar. |
| 1:12.0 | Yeah, which is insane for some freaking pistachios and shredded wheat, I think. |
| 1:16.2 | Yeah, it's just because they can because it's that trend that everyone wants. |
| 1:21.3 | So they're willing to drop $20 at a Circle K gas station. |
| 1:25.7 | And here's the thing. |
| 1:26.6 | At a Circle K gas station, you're probably not getting real Dubai chocolate. I hate to break the news. But like a Costco, you probably are, I would guess. Well, I mean, it's just influenced by that Dubai chocolate. It's the shredded wheat, the pistachio butter. And then I know our daughter makes her own cups with like strawberries, Nutella, pistachio butter and shredded wheat. Yeah. so she probably sold that for like $300. But there's so many trends out there that like the restaurants try to get on them and then like bigger food chains and you know, like Dunkin' Donuts and whatever. And then all of a sudden by the time they do this trend, it's like gone. Right. Like Starbucks right now is doing the Dubai machas and maybe a coffee drink too. Yeah. And that's kind of what like it's kind of |
| 2:02.1 | the Dubai trend is almost gone already. So it's like it took them so long to develop this and they wanted to make it good. And then it's like, oh, it's here. Like it's it's almost like if you're a small business, you're ahead of the game because you can move and pivot really. Sure. Like we go to an independent coffee shop up in Illinois, and if you're listening, Nora, it's |
| 2:17.7 | blissful brew, it's delicious. |
| 2:19.7 | She creates everything herself. go to an independent coffee shop up in Illinois. And if you're listening, Nor, it's blissful |
| 2:18.1 | brew. It's delicious. She creates everything herself. Everything's so unique. So that's somebody like that can just be like, oh, I'm doing a Dubai chocolate. Yeah, today. That's what I'm doing. Right. So, yeah, it's interesting. Kids, let us know what else is cool out there. I try to listen to the, uh, the TikToks and the Instagrams and all those things. |
