Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta, the province known for many of those beautiful,

iconic Canadian scenescapes featuring mountains, forests, lakes and prairies. The city of

Edmonton has around 930,000 residents

and is often referred to as the Gateway to the North.

It's often the first hub for provincial business,

like the nearby oil sands mining activity.

Edmonton is also the place many tourists travel to before heading north to

access other recreational sites in Alberta, like Jasper National Park and the Canadian

Rocky Mountains, as well as more rural parts of northern Canada. Edmonton is also called a

festival city, because there are always festivals to attend year-round,

like the world-famous fringe festival and a music, folk fest as well as ample shopping and cultural activities.

In 2008, Edmonton would also host a very strange and twisted story,

where truth and reality blended together in a murder case.

had a date planned with a woman he'd just met online.

He was recently separated and had just moved to Edmonton in the summer.

He was finding it tough to meet new people in his city,

so he did what many of us do, went online.

There, he began to strike up a conversation
