Hey guys and welcome to the Moms and Murder podcast, a true crime podcast featuring myself, Mandy, and my dear friend Melissa. Hi, Melissa. Hi, Mandy. How are you? I'm doing all right. How are you? I'm good. It's supposed to be rainy today, weather report time,

0:39.2

but it's not so far and I'm just excited. I don't want a little bit this morning and it's kind of

0:46.9

gloomy outside now. So it's not like a nice day, but it's a perfect Saturday for me.

We had a beautiful rainbow yesterday that I was so excited about.

0:57.0

Melissa rarely has bursts of excitement.

1:00.7

And yeah, you texted me and you were like, Mandy, go outside and look at this crazy rainbow.

1:05.3

Like, I'm freaking out about it.

1:06.4

I was like, wow, you really are.

1:08.2

Like, this is a first for me.

1:09.3

You never freak out about anything.

1:44.4

No, I know. And my family was like, can you come inside? I'm like, other neighbors are outside looking. It's crazy. Yeah, it was beautiful, though. It was gorgeous. Yeah. And I ended up seeing a lot of people on social media friends, like from around here had posted about the rainbow. And a lot of people got really good pictures of it. It wasn't as bright over my house, but it looked crazy in some of the other pictures I saw. So yeah, so if you live in the Orlando area, maybe you saw the big beautiful rainbow. Let us know. Did you make it to the end of the rainbow? Yeah. Is their gold? Because I was like, I think I can see the end of it. Right. It was amazing, though.

1:46.3

And not many things make me that excited.

2:01.5

So, like, I literally sent it to you and I, like, sent it to my mom and my sister. And then looking at the pictures, it doesn't at all look as cool. It's like taking pictures or video of fireworks. You're like, oh, this sucks. Yeah, I tried to get my kids to, yeah, I tried to get my kids to come see it.

2:17.7

I got one of them to go outside for like 20 seconds. He was like, oh, cool. And the other one was just like, I've seen rainbows before. I know. That's why everybody was getting out of the car. I'm like, you guys got to look. And they looked and they were like, can we go inside? I'm like, yeah, but don't you want to look? I'm like, no. I know. I'm like the same as you because it is so rare to see one that's that bright, especially, and it was like a full rainbow. It wasn't just like a piece of one. It really had like the full arc and it was just really pretty and very bright, like you said. But I don't I guess. I thought I was seeing a triple rainbow at one point. I was turning into the double

2:36.8

rainbow guy. I thought I was seeing a triple rainbow at one point. I was

2:35.6

turning into the double rainbow guy. I was losing my mind. So thank you for humoring me. Thank you all

2:40.4

for humoring us for this. Yeah. It was such an exciting time. It really was. Yeah, it was.

2:46.5

All right. So the episode that we have this week is a little bit different than usual. It is still a true crime case, but to me, it kind of feels a little bit more like an urban legend

2:55.6

or folklore.

2:57.6

And that has a lot to do with the fact that this case is kind of from a while ago.

3:01.6

It's from way back in the 1950s.

3:04.6

This story took place in New Zealand in 1954, and it has been a hugely popular case locally
