So here we're going to talk a little bit about the production history, which was fascinating. I love doing these

episodes because I learned so much about this, and it's so cool. So I found a really great

archived scan, basically, of a Cinefantastique magazine from 1999, where they go pretty hard on

all sorts of mummy-related content,

and they kind of went back through the production history and the long road to actually

getting this movie made.

So, story for this movie starts way back in 1987 when, according to the magazine, it says,

according to the records of the WGA, the first evidence of the remake was logged in 1987 with a treatment from distinguished horror filmmaker, George Romero, not George Romeo, which I apparently typed here in the script, but George Romero.
