This is the PM edition of What's News, the top headlines and business stories that moved the world today.

The minutes from the Federal Reserve's June meeting released today show that some officials

supported raising interest rates, even though they ultimately decided to leave them unchanged.

Many Fed officials were also prepared to raise rates again this year.

The minutes showed little that would alter recent market expectations of another increase

to combat inflation at the Federal Reserve's next meeting on July 25th and 26th.

US auto sales were strong in the first half of this year.

They're expected to have notched a 12-14% rise in new vehicle sales.

That's despite gloomy industry forecasts.

General Motors reported in 18% rise in sales, and Kia, Nissan, Subaru, and Honda also reported

strong numbers. Dealers and car executives say the bounce back is due to pent-up demand from

years of shortages. Two outliers were Stellantis and Toyota. They both posted a 1% drop in US sales.
