one of the things that I came to understand is that whatever your limit is, you're doing something.

Yeah. You know, as long as you could do something, you're fine. And from my dad, what he felt as his

shortcoming was as a father and husband. And so if I am doing that, then I am doing movement work that

completes what he wished he could have done better.

He's a writer, educator, and author of a new memoir, The Movement Made Us.

The book recounts the life of David's father, David Dennis Sr., a key figure in the

Civil Rights Movement.

The book follows David Sr. from his time at Dillard University, to his first

core meeting, to the Freedom Rides, and more.

Through firsthand accounts from David Sr. and letters from his son, we see the ripple

effects of his movement work

in his marriages, friendships, and most of all, his relationship with David Jr.
