Hey guys welcome to another episode of you from the cheap seats our look at the week in sports

aka the W e a k in sports there has been weakness this week there has been some strength this week. We're going to have a

great guest on the show. He wrote an amazing book called Mountain Top

along with Nick Baumgartner about the 1997 University of Michigan football team and the analogy of course being

connected to John Krakhauer's incredible book into thin air which came out that same

year or about six and. And it chronicled the incredible tragedy on Mount Everest,

but really the idea of climbing Everest

as a metaphor for any sort of long endeavor and attempt to do what is

that it's not linear I mean we appreciate that it's a this is a book. Mark Snyder is our guest.

And we'll talk college football and all the ins and outs and how it's changing and how this sort of marked

the end of an era and we are standing on that precipice right now.

And of another era.

So all that, we'll get to that that later a lot of things happen this past week

the draft the NFL draft happened

Which I watched a lot of I watched a watch a lot of the draft

Kudos to Detroit who showed out strong a city that is was often and has been a punchline forever

I think the value that this is what I want to say in a quick take on this and then we have a deeper top take about

Jhelan Brunson but the power of sports a lot of people want to say

sports is just a sidebar it's a distraction from what's going on the world, it's low stakes, it doesn't matter, and some of those things are true.

But I do think the value of having a good team and a significant team in any one sport can lift not just the

spirits of a city but it can attract people to a city and change the narrative and change the

way people view it and change how a city perceives itself and actually make a nicer.
