We are in the section of the Book of Matthew

that is commonly called the Sermon on the mount because it was delivered to the

disciples of Jesus on the mountain side there above the sea of Galilee seeing

the multitudes he went into a mountain and when he was

set his disciples came unto him and he opened his mouth and taught them saying. So the

first thing we note is that this sermon on the mount is not

for general world consumption. It is not a system of laws and all that the world should inaugurate or can inaugurate.

The Sermon on the Mount is to the disciples of Jesus Christ.

And it is only those who have been described

in the first part of the sermon
