I'm recording these words in October of the year 2020, shortly before an election that many people, including the candidates, often tell us is the most important election of our

lifetime. And recently, that got me wondering, what is the history of the phrase this is the most

important election of our lifetime? Because, you know, we're told that all the time. Everyone

has said that this is the most important election of our lifetime in pretty much every election of our lifetime.

Like, for example, this is the most important election of our lifetime.

This is the most important election of our times.

Look, this is the most important election certainly in my lifetime.

election of our lifetime. And maybe it is. Maybe it is. I admit, it sure
