Around here you probably noticed we don't get quite so reverent about the pageants of Hollywood-Frogly People, Washington DC, like the State of the Union address, which is mostly a waste of everybody's time, but it was pretty entertaining last night.

The whole idea of it is disgusting to me.

Just it makes my skin crawl.

In what way, sir?

The pageantry, the making it seem like we have a king that the government is the president. That's the worst thing that has happened.

To our view of the relationship between people and the government is this whole putting it all on the president.

We all turn out for the presidential election.

We all talk about who's president and ignore all the other stuff. It's just stupid.

Well, even more perverse than that, I think, although this ship has sailed or the cows have left a barn or a ship full of cows has fled the country or something.

Is the idea that the government exists to give us stuff?

Right.

It's only a question of how much stuff to whom.

That is truly a perverse view, but it's taken over the globe.

So I give up.
