Well, this is the face of a man who's clearly been badly beaten, and he seems like a nice

enough guy. He certainly doesn't seem like the kind of guy who goes looking for a fight.

So what happened to this poor gentleman to be beaten so badly about the face? Was he a bounce

for a nightclub? Certainly doesn't look like one. No, that wasn't it. Did he stumble into a bad

neighborhood? Was he randomly assaulted on the streets? What on earth could have caused somebody to take that kind of beating? Well, the answer is actually pretty simple. He was in a

fairly high-risk occupation, you see. He was refereeing a kid's soccer game. Hi, everybody. I'm

Bill Little here with Steve Green and Scott Ott, and this particular right angle is about a trend

that started many years ago, certainly two or three decades ago,

continues to get worse.

This gentleman was asked to sit in by a friend to referee a soccer game.

He had refereed other soccer games, and apparently he did something with one of the players

in terms of pulling them out of the game or not putting them in the game or something.

The father of the child said, hey, can we talk for a second?

The guy who was badly beaten went on to say, I said, sure, we started walking the next thing,

you know, I'm on the ground. Now, as it turns out, the parent who beat this man pretty severely,

because he didn't like the way he was coaching his kid, had been involved with a shooting earlier and was by all accounts a bad egg.

So I was tempted to say, okay, this is a one-off.

However, when I looked into the comments on this, what I found again and again and again,

nonstop, gentlemen, was that this was, in fact, so common that people were saying I used to coach

the little league baseball and I got out of it. I used to coach P the league baseball and I got out of it.

I used to coached Peewee Soccer and I got out of it.
