history program Witness History with me Simon Watts. Today we're going back to July 1969 when the world

watched in awe as Neil Armstrong took the first step on the moon. I've been

talking to one of the flight controllers who worked on the

Apollo 11 mission.

T-mina 60 seconds and counting. We passed T-minous 60.

The Armstrong reported back when he received a good wishes.

On the 16th of July 1969, an estimated 1 million people gathered at Cape Canaveral in Florida to watch the launch of Apollo 11.

Hundreds of millions more saw the spectacular take-off on television.
