This is On Point. I'm Megna Tachr-, and President Donald Trump is winning. He's winning at having the worst approval rating at the almost 100-day mark of any president in 80 years. But perhaps Washington spin doctors would say,

even with that dismal stat, he shows he is winning

because Trump started off his second term

with the second worst approval rating of any president in the modern era.

The only person with a worse rating

was President Donald Trump himself in his first term. So he is winning by being the most

disapproved of president early in his administration twice. Now there isn't a single issue where he

has gained approval points from Americans.

Trade, foreign policy, taxes, health, even immigration, all in negative territory now.

And then there's the one where Trump was once considered the strongest, his handling of the economy.

President Trump's approval rating on the economy has plummeted by 24 points, a massive shift, according to the economist. And last

week, Gallup found that a record high, 53 percent of Americans believe their economic situation

is getting worse. That's the first time a majority of Americans believe their economic situation is getting worse.

That's the first time a majority of Americans have felt that way since Gallup first started asking that question back in 2001.
