0:00.0	We live in a changing world that is full of questions, and the answers must come from the unchanging truth of God's word.
0:15.0	Today we look into Scripture with Scott Pauli to discover what the Bible says.

0:30.6	We've taken a good bit of time to look at what the Bible says about the church. And here's why, because this is what God
0:39.5	is doing in this world right now. This is present tense. This is where we're living. This is not theory.
0:45.9	This is practice. What is God doing in this world through the local New Testament church? And what are we
0:53.0	to be doing? What's our mission?
0:55.3	Let's begin with one verse today.
0:56.7	1 Timothy chapter 3, verse number 15.
0:59.0	Paul writes,
1:00.3	But if I tarry long,
1:02.3	that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God,
1:07.3	which is the church of the living God,
1:09.3	the pillar and ground of the truth.
1:12.3	We find something here that's true of the institution of the church
1:16.1	and something that's true for the individual in the church.
1:19.2	The truth for the institution is this.
1:20.9	We have one mission, and that mission as the Church of the Living God,
1:24.5	is to be the pillar and ground of the truth, literally to uphold the truth,
1:29.9	to lift up the truth in love.
1:31.7	We've been given a body of doctrine.
1:33.9	And it's our mission, not just to hold it.
