Hello, we have had a great email from Alice who lives in York.

I'm going to read out nearly the whole thing.

Hello, wonderful newscast team she starts.

I heard today that my 102 year old grandma who lives in a care home in East Sussex

is getting the first dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine on Saturday.

Like most of those in care homes, she's not seen any family, other than a few garden visits

from my mum when that was allowed since March and she's doing

remarkably well. The care home staff set her up on the computer so we could have a

Zoom call with her on Boxing Day which she would normally spend with us and she now knows all the

video call lingo. And this is where I interrupt to say we've actually managed to obtain

some of that Boxing Day video call. Who's that in the corner?

That's you, you niece.

God. Oh, it's wonderful for me.

I shall forget to do it all do but still I'm doing it now.

And the email continues, it's amazing to think that as she was born in

1918, this is technically the second

pandemic she's lived through. She's a truly wonderful woman and I hope that with

her getting the vaccine, my parents hopefully getting the vaccine before too long and much further down the queue my sibling my siblings and I being vaccinated, that we can spend time together as a family again.

When you have such an elderly relative, you're acutely aware that each time you see them as precious

and might in fact be the last.

And obviously the threat of COVID brings that much closer to home.
