Summary

Want to mine Bitcoin but don’t know how to do it from home? Have we got a podcast for you! Welcome back to the Mining Pod! Today we’re joined by Skot, the creator of the open source Bitcoin mining project Bitaxe! Launched a bit over a year ago, Bitaxe is a simple way to bring mining back to the household by taking a chip from state of the art Bitcoin miners like the Bitmain S21 and gluing it with a bunch of other parts into a mini-home miner! We talk with Skot about the origin of the idea, why he wanted to make something like the Bitaxe, the value of home mining and the future of mega miners like Riot, Marathon or others. 👉 Get tickets to OP_NEXT by visiting the website! Hey, welcome back to the mining pod. Finally, got the BitX crew on the show. Scott, welcome to the

0:05.9

mining pod. It's well overdue, well overdue, but I'm glad we got you on. Hey, what's up? Glad to be

0:11.5

here. Thanks for having me. I think the first time we met each other was November of last year at the

0:16.6

ocean launch party. Maybe we met earlier. There's tons of mining events, but I think that's the

0:22.1

person I remember talking with you and hearing about BitX. And at the time, I'm going to be

0:27.1

honest, I was like, not another one of these like little like mining devices. But you know what?

0:32.9

You found like a market gap. People are like going crazy over them. There's like a Bitax

0:37.5

mafia, so to speak, on Twitter. I'm hearing about like, uh, hosting companies and

0:42.8

retail companies trying to like acquire Bitax. I've even heard that you're having like a

0:46.9

problem like meeting all the demand. I don't know if that's just like me, uh, reading into

0:52.9

it too much, but it seems like a good problem to have. So I'm glad we got

0:56.0

you on. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I was thinking about that before I joined. I think that is where we

0:59.8

first met in South Carolina a little less than a year ago. That seems like so long ago. Yeah.

1:05.3

Like it's kind of crazy when you think about it, like everything that's happened in

1:09.4

basically a year.

1:11.3

I was thinking about with that spot, there was a Bitcoin mining site using the hydro dam in that area.

1:18.4

And I was thinking about like with the hurricane, I just went through if that impacted the operation there, which I won't reveal the name or the location.

1:25.5

But it did make me think, you know, some danger

1:29.3

to hydro mining that area that you wouldn't have thought about it. Yeah, that was a really neat

1:33.1

sight. I mean, I think it's probably been through some floods before because it was also really

1:36.2

old. So hopefully they're all right. Yeah, I'm sure they're good. Uh, Collins also joining us.

1:42.4

You want to get you in here before, uh, you scare people 30 minutes into the podcast with a question.
