look into how the Israel-Gaza peace plan came together earlier this week.

got us over the finish line. Eric, this is still very young here, and the White House is

acknowledging that a lot could go wrong between now and the hostage swap and the ultimate

withdrawal and drawdown of Hamas.

Really, when we're looking at how this peace deal came together, we have to start with the

Israeli strike on Doha last month.

That really was a major turning point

in the president getting re-engaged in trying to put his presidential influence behind a deal.

It's not that talks hadn't been happening. Certainly these conversations were occurring at the

low level, but Israel and Hamas are not at the negotiating table in really significant ways.
