John Norman Chapman was born on June 17, 1947 in Windsor, Ontario. His father was Canadian and his

mother was American. He was the youngest of three children.

His father was an abusive alcoholic, and he left shortly after John was born.

His mother soon remarried, and her second husband was also an abusive alcoholic who took a lot of his anger out on John.
