Well, you have a chance to get a generational talent while also weakening the Yankees at the same time.

If you're looking to spend $8 billion to redevelop that dump around city field,

you need a generational talent to anchor your lineup and draw fans and there's no better fit than

Juan Soto. What worries me is the way they went after Yamamoto.

They needed to go way above the other teams, given how awful a year the Mets were coming

off of in 2023. Everyone knew he was going to get something in the $300 million range,

and the Mets offered

$325.

They needed to be more like $375 to $400 to have a real shot.

My concern is Cohen is not using his enormous financial power to blow everyone away.

It may need to be $14 years, $840 million.
