0:22.7	We often think of it being in a stable, right?
0:25.8	We show up at church and Christmas, and we see the Nativity scene.
0:29.3	It has Jesus there in a manger with the animals there in a stable.
0:33.8	Maybe you have a Nativity scene at home.
0:36.0	I bet your Nativity scene probably has Jesus in a stable, right?
0:40.0	That's the common modern interpretation of the biblical story of Christ's birth.
0:45.7	But did you know that the Bible doesn't say that Jesus was born in a stable?
0:49.6	Did you know that that's a later tradition?
0:51.2	Did you know that the earliest Christians didn't think it took place in a stable?
0:55.8	Did you know that the earliest Christians believed that Jesus was born in a cave?
1:01.6	In fact, if you go to Bethlehem to this day, the locals will tell you Jesus was born in a cave,
1:07.6	and there's this big church built over the networks of caves there in Bethlehem,
1:11.8	and they can point to the very spot that had been revered from very early in Christianity,
1:17.0	where Jesus was born in a cave.
1:20.2	Is there any biblical evidence for this?
1:22.5	What do we know from the early church tradition on this?
1:24.9	And even more, what's this significance?
1:27.1	Doesn't really matter where Jesus was born?
