0:38.8	What is New Testament preaching?
0:41.8	There's all kinds of preaching that goes on in our world today,
0:44.3	both inside of church buildings and outside of church meetings.
0:48.4	But how can you identify?
0:50.3	What is the distinguishing characteristic of New Testament preaching?
0:55.1	And the answer to that question is that New Testament preaching always, always
1:00.4	points you to Jesus Christ.
1:03.6	The great theme of the covenant of grace, the great theme of the Testament given to us in the New Testament scriptures is the
1:13.8	person and work of Jesus Christ. So a person could be a wonderful speaker, and they may even
1:20.2	take a portion of scripture, but if they are not pointing us to the Lord Jesus Christ,
1:25.2	then they are not truly a New Testament preacher. Now, let me give
1:28.8	a little caveat to that. Did you know that you can actually preach and hear preaching from the Old
1:33.9	Testament? And it can be New Testament preaching? How is that possible? Because the entire Old Testament
1:40.8	was given for one purpose, and that is to point us to the person of Jesus Christ.
1:46.9	In other words, the 39 books we refer to as the Old Testament are not to be dispensed with,
1:53.6	not to be thrown away.
