Finally feels like fall here in San Diego and by finally feels like fall I mean the sun isn't out

all the time and it's like 70 degrees. 68 degrees maybe. Anyways it is

fall here and that means we are talking about some fall crops and today we're talking about broccoli. There's a ton of

different types of broccoli that you can grow and I would love for you to

experiment with some unique ones this growing season.

All of these broccoli varieties are part of the Brassica Oloricea family,

also known or formerly known as crucifera,

and that includes kale, that includes cabbage,

brussels sprouts, coal robi, collard greens, and other things.

So if you're into this family of vegetables

just like I am, then let's go ahead and find out a couple types of broccoli that you may want to keep your eye on.

The first category is going to be Calabrice broccoli.

So this is the mountain of broccoli that we see at the grocery store.

Usually that's a variety of Calabrice broccoli and here are a couple interesting ones.

You have Blue Wind, that's a hybrid variety very, very early, it's only 60 days to maturity, so can be a really nice one.

And as the name suggests, you've got these light blue leaves.

Of course, Calibris itself is an open-pollinated airloom, really tall, maybe three feet

tall, five inch central heads, really, really nice and then you can harvest the side shoots

all season long as kind of like a brokolini type of thing.

The next category of broccoli we have is sprouting broccoli.
