Laurelie spent her childhood in the Philippines where nights were spent outside in the dark,

playing games with friends, and staying far, far away from the shapeshifting spirits that

are ready to follow you home.

My mom ended up bringing us to the town that we grew up in because we were living in

Manila at the time.

So we ended up going back to the rural town that she grew up in so that her parents could

watch us while she came to the US to pursue opportunities.

And we were actually separated for seven years.

It took that long for her citizenship to happen and for her to be able to petition us to
