Summary

Just when Holmes concludes that St. Clair has met a tragic end, the man's wife produces proof that her husband is still alive. Determined to uncover the truth, Holmes and Watson embark on an early morning journey through the English countryside which ends in a grimy London jail cell. There, they confront the mysterious beggar, Hugh Boone and make a shocking discovery. Last time, Dr Watson headed to East London to retrieve one of his patients from an opium den. While there, he ran into a cleverly disguised Sherlock Holmes, who was in the process of investigating a very different case.

A respectable businessman, Neville St. Clair, had vanished from this same den, spotted briefly
