At 4pm on the 18th of April 1991, King County Police arrived at an apartment block on North

152 Avenue in North King County, Seattle.

They were there to carry out a welfare check, a routine call, one of dozens they'd handled

that month. What they found inside would be anything but routine. The door was unlocked.

The officers stepped inside and immediately knew something was wrong. Candles, dozens of them,

had burned down to nothing throughout the apartment. Their wax pulled and hardened on every surface.

Crucifixes hung up on the walls, positioned with what seemed like desperate intention.

Books on the occult lay open on tables and counters, and along the edges of every room,

along every doorway, across the porch, unbroken lines of salt carefully poured as if to keep

something out or perhaps to keep something in.

Something in.

Ooh. Spooky. What is it Halloween? The officers made their way toward the bathroom. Inside

they found him. A young man fully clothed, kneeling in an empty

bathtub. His body was pressed face first against the wall, arms at his sides, frozen in a position

that looked almost like a prayer. He had been dead for days. His name was Christopher Case. He was 35 years old,

and in the weeks before his death, he had told everyone who would listen that a woman had cursed

him and that something was coming to kill him. This is the chilling story that rocks Seattle

in the spring of 1991, a case that has never been adequately explained.
