Welcome to the Colette Podcast I'm Jonathan Kay Kay. What you just heard was an audio excerpt from The Rise of Jordan Peterson,

a Canadian film directed by Patricia Marcoccha, and produced by her husband, Masiar Gadari, of Toronto-based holding space films.

The movie was released in late 2018, but continues to find new audiences,

including a well-attended screening I attended last week in Midtown Toronto

and a forthcoming festival appearance in Western Canada next month.

The rise of Jordan Peterson is an honest portrait of a campus intellectual who's become an

international sensation and is based on months of intimate

access provided to the husband and wife filmmakers. But it's not a fawning portrait and it includes

the voices of critics as well as starring roles for Peterson's family members.

That includes Peterson's wife Tammy, who is seen constantly trying to help her husband manage

the controversies and demands that began when the debate over pronoun usage vaulted Peterson to

international celebrity in 2016. Earlier this week I visited the holding space

offices to interview the couple, Patricia and Maas as they're known to friends, about what it was like to shadow Canada's most famous public intellectual, and about how their films been received by Peterson's friends and foes.
