Let's get into story number one. You guys know how you can sponsor an elephant and adopt an elephant for a few dollars a month and all that stuff.

How you can basically sponsor somebody's gender affirming surgery if you live in Washington state. This is great news. Washington state requires insurers to cover gender affirming surgery and care starting January 1. This is great stuff.

So now if you're paying out to insurance in Washington state and somebody who identifies as transgender goes, hey, I want to get sex reaffirming surgery. I would like to change my physical parts from those of a female to those of a male. Now you get the privilege of paying for that. Isn't that just a fantastic and wonderful.

Explain the situation for people. Yes, let's explain it. This is a new law that has come out. This has been a contentious issue and issue of debate within healthcare for quite some time for years now.

The transgender community and allies of the transgender community have come out and said, you know what, if I am transgender, this is a health issue and I want to get sex reassignment surgery. I shouldn't have to pay for that out of pocket. It should be covered by insurance.

Up until now, it's been deemed a cosmetic surgery, you know, lopping off your boobs and changing your genitalia has been cosmetic no longer is it going to be considered a cosmetic surgery in Washington state and it will be covered by insurance.

Now, so, so, so the government has come in and said now this is insurance companies have to do this. They don't have a choice.

Yep, and insurance commissioners have also worked in them worked with them to work out these details. One insurance commissioner by the name of Mike Creadler says advocates told us over and over again that gender affirming treatment saves lives as the insurance regulator.

I take seriously my duty to make sure laws and rules around insurance coverage are as inclusive as we intend them to be and insurers aren't able to issue blanket denials based on inadvertent loopholes in the law.

And what is the evidence that they provide for that it saves lives? Great question. William, there is no evidence to support that this saves lives and for anybody who knows me or the show, we talk about the issue of transgenderism a lot, particularly as it pertains to young people.

And there is no evidence to support that gender reassignment surgery saves lives. In fact, there's very little long term studies on transgendarism and surgical reassignment at all. The longest one we have or the most thorough one that we have is one coming out of sweet enough for after 30 years that finds regardless of treatment.
