On October 24, 1839, a young woman was born who would, seemingly,

out of the blue, begin her career as a serial killer. So if you like your coffee hot, but

your bones chilled, sit back and start your day with a morning cup of murder. Sophie Johanna's daughter, born on August 24, 1839, in the small village of Ardemart, Sweden.

Coming from a poor family of five children, two of which unfortunately died in infancy,

Sophie grew up with very little, and according to the sources, was reportedly abused by both of her parents.

At the age of 15, she was sent off to school to learn to read and write, where she struggled

greatly. And in 1867, she made her way to Norway, where she began work at a cotton mill

before finally landing a job as a maid for a 70-year-old merchant,

Niels Anker-Stong. Her arrival, however, wasn't a welcome one for many of the other servants.

It wasn't long before they started to complain about Sophie's, quote,

quarrelsome and antagonistic

attitude, and as a result, many of them actually left their jobs. She was also known to steal

whenever left unsupervised, though her employer knew nothing of her little habits. He also had

no idea that the young woman he had hired

was actually a serial killer.

Claiming her first victim on October 16, 1869,
