First, let's settle in together with the sound year or so I've become much more interested in how to bring

In the mindfulness community, this would be called informal practice.

Formal practice is the time you spend on the cushion, actually meditating.

Informal practice is the way that you bring mindfulness into your real life

while you're doing the dishes while you're taking a shower or while you're driving a car.

Both are very important. Formal practice informs informal practice and informal practice

informs formal practice. But anyone that is a human living in the real world knows that it can be very difficult to bring

mindfulness into our daily life especially when we're dealing with a lot of

different emotions and distractions.

And for me, where I get most lost in this is when I'm on my computer, when I'm taking care of emails,

when I'm thinking about things, when I'm navigating a lot of my web

browser, a lot of different tabs.

I could be very intentional starting out

of like I'm going to bring a lot of presence to this and mindfulness I'm going to keep my body

relaxed and be very attuned to what I'm doing.

But this technology is so addicting and stimulating and work itself just requires a lot of thinking that

yeah I just find it very easy to get lost in in that world and so it's not so much that I can't bring presence to those moments.
