When it comes to combat, there's no quicker strike than a punch.

Today on International Objects, we're taking a look at heavy metal as we spotlight brass

knuckles.

The modern day brass knuckles can trace its lineage back to ancient Rome, while preparing

for battle, gladators were wearing lined gloves called Cestus.

Basically, they were gloves filled with iron plates or fitted with blades or spiked

to do heavy damage.

And well, the more things change, the more they say the same.

Now while these so-called brass knucks have evolved and been refined a bit since that

time, they're still currently illegal in 21 states here in the US.

Despite this, they've been a part of professional wrestling for close to 60 years.

Such a symbol of toughness in being hardcore before there was a hardcore, promotions such

as the A.W.A. and N.W.A.A. actually had brass knuckle championships which featured

lacks rules.

With the championship wrestling from Florida version of the latter being held by Hall of

Famer, Rocky Johnson.

Ever since then, whenever a thing has got out of hand, competitors reach for a pair

of the old knuckle dusters.
