If you've been on the internet in the past couple weeks, you may have seen something about

the enormous controversy over M&Ms chocolate candies.

If you have missed this, congratulations.

But all this thinking about M&Ms got us thinking about this classic episode of Planet Money

reported originally in 2014 by David Kessenbaum.

He kind of concocts his own little M&M controversy.

It's an extremely delightful episode.

It's one of my personal favorites.

Here it is.

The other day I went down to the lobby of our building here to get a snack.

And I decided on M&Ms, but I could not decide which kind.

So I bought two packs.

One regular M&Ms, one peanut butter filled M&Ms.

And in the elevator back up to the office, you know, there's like never anything to do

in the elevator.

I actually started reading the labels on these packages and I found something really strange.

Here I have one here.

A pack of regular M&Ms weighs 1.69 ounces.

Pack of peanut butter M&Ms slightly less.

1.63 ounces.
