And we are just delighted and honored that you have joined us for this exciting episode

where we're going to be talking about love and to start our conversation off. Samantha and I need

to say happy birthday to somebody that we love and we know you love. So just wish Joel a happy birthday

month for us today please. Yay. Happy birthday Joel. I know. I love him. I just love him.

So Samantha why don't you start us off by telling us all sorts of wonderful weird,

superstitious things about love. I am happy to. Everybody thanks for joining us sit back and maybe

take out some pen and paper because I'm going to talk about some fun superstitions. Deb is going

to talk about some love spells and candle magic and I'm going to talk also about crystals and

Feng Shui for love. So we have a chocolate filled hour waiting for you. But first when I was doing

research for the show I was just reading through some of the old wives tales and superstitions

and euphemisms that people really believed in in terms of who they will marry and who their love is.

Maybe you guys have all even played this game. I know we did in middle school the Apple twist game

where you take an apple and you say the alphabet as you're twisting it and the letter that the

twist the apple twist falls off on is the the apple stem. That's the name of the person you're going

to fall in love with. There's another version of that it's an ancient love game that involves twisting

the apple stem while saying the names of your perspective lovers. So if you know I'm either going

to marry Jim Bob or Larry you just say those names over and over and the name that the stem comes

off on is the person you're going to marry. There's another one with apples where you start to peel the

apple and as you're peeling you say the alphabet and when you reach a point as we all do when we're

peeling an apple that that the core breaks you know the peeling breaks whatever letter you're on

when that happens is the first letter of the first name of the person you're going to marry. Yes
