So grateful to be going through this Love Dare book together with you. I don't know how you've been feeling, but for me, this has been very challenging. This has been very eye-opening

to me. I'm challenged when I look into the principles

of God's Word and it exposes my own selfishness. And I realize that this, this challenge to love

somebody is one of the hardest things that you'll ever learn how to do. Love is not a feeling

that we fall in and out of,

but love is a choice that we make to put someone and their good above our own.

And that beautiful picture of love, of course,

that exemplifies self-sacrificing service,

more than any other,

is what Jesus did for you and for me on the cross

2,000 years ago. And our founding fathers and mothers understood that. These were men and women

of faith. These are our ancestors who were so wise to acknowledge the Almighty and to be in sacred covenant relationship

with God, depending on his blessing and his protection, and then covenant with one another,

to not divide over race and gender or politics, but to embrace the differences that they had, understanding that there was a faith

and there was a moral code that was absolutely essential to their success.

And they laid that out for us in such an important way.

Ultimately, we see that in our Constitution, in the Declaration of Independence.

And yet they understood that those laws that rule our land would ultimately fail to do their job

if you and I, as husbands and wives, as parents, as neighbors, didn't
