Hello, Mountaineers. Welcome to Bedtime Bible Stories. Stories from God's storybook to exercise our faith.

Let's begin. The son of Hezekiah, Manasa, became king when Hezekiah died. He was only 12 years old when he began to reign.

Quickly, Manasseh became one of the most wicked kings that ever reigned in Jerusalem. He rebuilt the high places that Hezekiah tore down,

and he built new altars to Ba'al and Asherah. He even put those pagan idols in the temple of God,

along with the altars for many other

gods. Manasseh filled the streets of Jerusalem with innocent blood. He was so deep in rebellion against God

that his country became more evil than the other wicked nations that God had commanded his people

to defeat. Manasseh was far from God, and he led God's

people away from him. The king of Assyria captured Manassah and bound him with chains.

The Lord brought this upon him in order to lead Manassah to repentance. And it worked. God delivered Manasa back to Jerusalem safely. The king then reformed

the city by removing the foreign gods and altars and reinstating the worship of God. Manassas' experience

tells us that no one has gone too far away to return to the Lord. After Manassah died, his son Ammon

reigned in his place. His was a short reign because his servants conspired against him and killed him.

And so Ammon's son, Josiah, reigned in his place. Josiah was only eight years old when he took the throne.
