So the genesis of this episode is an essay that Kurt Sampson, my guest today, wrote

for golf digest during last year's COVID postponed November masters.

Basically it's about the strange experience of being in Augusta during the masters, finding

the town very quiet and not going to the tournament.

He wonders whether it could be the first quote unquote bad masters since 1968.

And that props Kurt to mention in the lead of this article a book that he wrote about

that 1968 masters, which is called the Lost Masters.

Some of you will know that tournament as the scorecard masters where after 72 holes, Roberto

Davies-Sanzo and Bob Golby were tied, but Davies-Sanzo signed an incorrect scorecard, so there

was no playoff and Golby was named the champion.

And a lot of fans were pretty angry about it.
