Summary

Over the course of the two years we've been recording this podcast, there have been a handful of episodes we've never released for one reason or another. If you've heard our Listener Questions episode then you already know the back story on what went wrong with most of them. We've never actually talked about the movies themselves though.

So that's what this special is all about! Chris, Donna, and Carlos finally have an opportunity to sum up their thoughts on Clue, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Addams Family, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, RoboCop, Big, and Beetlejuice.

Hello and welcome to Hey Do You Remember, a show where we reminisce about a movie or TV series we grew up with, then take off the rose-tinted glasses to see how it holds up.

And today we're revisiting The Lost episodes. So about a year ago, we did a listener questions episode, and it was something that we had to put together at the last minute because we had just recorded and then subsequently lost an episode about the movie big.

1:05.5

And one of the questions we got asked was if there were any other lost episodes and if we wanted to talk a little bit about

1:11.5

them. And I think that was probably the first time we realized that we had as many as we did.

1:17.6

So we started going through and thinking about it. It's like a shadow catalog of lost episodes

1:22.8

at this point. And I think most of the conversation was devoted to behind thescenes stories about what had gone wrong or why certain things were never released.

1:31.4

But we didn't talk much about the movies themselves.

1:34.8

Two weeks ago, we suffered another casualty.

1:38.6

Not too bad, though.

1:39.8

We went a whole year without any serious technical difficulties.

1:43.6

That's pretty awesome. But yeah, we lost the Beetlejuice episode. We were all really

1:48.3

upset. I was particularly heartbroken because it was our first Tim Burton movie. He was my

1:54.1

favorite filmmaker as a kid. And I had a chance to talk about why that was, you know,

1:59.2

and what his films meant to me and

2:01.5

all of that. And at a certain point, it turned into this really interesting analysis of his

2:06.1

entire career and his evolution. So I hate that we lost all of that. And I knew we couldn't just

2:11.0

redo the episode because it would feel weird. And I don't know. I had stuff I wanted to say about

2:16.9

it, though, and about all of these movies.
