follow along in your Bibles as I read from Exodus 34 beginning with verse 10 and he said

behold I make a covenant before all your people I will do marvels such as have not been wrought in all the earth or in any nation

And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord

For it is a terrible thing that I will do with you.

Obson to you this day.

Behold, I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canonites, the Hittites, the Hittites, the Par Canonites the Hittites the Hivites and the Jebusites

Take heed to yourself lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whether you go, lest it become a snare in the midst of you.

You shall tear down their altars and break their pillars and cut down their ashirem.

For you shall worship no other God.

For the Lord, whose name is jealous, is a jealous God.

Lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land,

and when they play the harlot after their

gods and sacrifice to their gods and one invites you you eat of his sacrifice and you take of

their daughters for your sons and their daughters play the harlot after their gods and make your sons play the harlot after their gods.

You remember that this is the second time God has summoned Moses to the top of Mount Sinai to give him the Ten Commandments. The first time proved to be a washout

because when Moses heard from God that the people had made a golden cow down in the valley.

He shattered those tables of stone on the ground and God was ready to wipe out the people of Israel because of their idolatry and their harlotry against him.

But Moses interceded for the people. against him.

But Moses interceded for the people and God relented of his anger and what we have in chapter

34 is the readiness of God to make this covenant again.

And when it says in verse 10 chapter 34,

behold, I make a covenant. That's what we're to think. The mercy of God giving rise to a second chance.
