The Christian life cannot be reduced to a man-made list of things to do and not to do.

However, when God gives a specific list in Scripture, we must take careful note of His priorities.

Today we examined the Lord's to-do list found in 1st Thessalonians chapter 5.

We tend to live by list, a list of things to get at the grocery store, list of things to do,

list of bills to pay, lots of lists. And there's a great danger. It really is in the Christian faith

to think that as long as we keep a list of things, things to do or things not to do, then we have

become what we're supposed to become or we've done everything we're supposed to do. There's a great

danger in that. For years, I have lived by list. Every day, I'm thinking about things I need to get

done and using a checklist to check things off.

But the Christian life, walking with God, obeying the promptings of the Holy Spirit,

now that's not quite as simple because day by day the Lord guides and he leads,

you can't plan all of that.

And yet in scripture as you study, you will come across a certain

list that are divine lists. They are God's to-do list. And anytime you find one of the Lord's list,

you should mark it because there's great significance in it and there's always a divine order to it.

We're beginning today, a brand new study in one of the

Lord's list, his to-do list. It's found in First Thessalonians chapter number five. Now frankly,

I'm tempted to just read the entire chapter to you today, but I think it'd be much better if on

your own time today you'd open your copy of the Word of God and read First Thessalonians

five. It is the last chapter of the first letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Thessalonicus.
